Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is a premier legal education institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Established in 2003, HNLU offers undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral programs, including the BA LLB (Hons.) and LLM, with the Ph.D. program focusing on various areas in law. Admissions to the BA LLB (Hons.) are conducted through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), while HNLU organizes a separate entrance exam for Ph.D. applicants.

HNLU Courses Offered

HNLU provides a range of courses across various specializations in law:

  1. BA LLB (Hons.)
    • Duration: 5 years
    • Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 45% marks from a recognized board
  2. LLM
    • Specializations: Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Environmental Law, Public Law, Technology and Law
    • Duration: 1 year
    • Eligibility: LLB or BL degree
  3. Ph.D. in Law
    • Duration: Minimum 2 years
    • Eligibility: Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks

Admission Process at HNLU

To apply to HNLU’s UG and PG programs, students must register on the official CLAT website, complete the application form, and submit required documents with the application fee (INR 4000 for General/OBC and INR 3500 for SC/ST candidates). Ph.D. applicants should download the application form from HNLU’s official website and submit it along with a fee of INR 2000 for General/OBC or INR 1000 for SC/ST.

HNLU Cutoff Scores

HNLU’s CLAT-based cutoff ranks vary by program, with the BA LLB requiring higher CLAT ranks than the LLM program. For the latest cutoff information, prospective students can refer to the university’s website.

Placements and Career Opportunities

HNLU’s placement cell provides strong career support, helping students secure internships and jobs in top law firms, government institutions, and non-profit organizations. The 2023 placements saw a batch of 168 students, with 76 registered for placements. Of those, 42 received offers, and 37 accepted, with an average annual package between INR 12-16 LPA. Pre-placement activities, including talks and interviews, prepare students for success in the legal field.
