National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is a government university in Bangalore that was established in 1986. NLSIU was the first national law university to be set up in India and is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Considered one of the top law schools in India, NLSIU Bangalore is ranked #1 among top law universities/schools in India by various organizations such as NIRF, Outlook, India Today, etc.

NLSIU offers BALLB, LLB, MPP, LLM, and PhD programs. Admissions are based on the university-based entrance test or national-level examination for law, i.e., CLAT and NLSAT. The university also offers student exchange programs, which allow students to study law at foreign universities and interact with its faculty and students. NLSIU Admissions are offered for eligible students based on merit in the entrance examinations. Admission is offered to both National and International students. The university conducts the National Law School Admission Test (NLSAT) for admission to 3-Year LLB (Hons), Masters in Public Policy (MPP), PhD (Law), and PhD (Interdisciplinary) programs. Admission to 5-year BALLB (Hons) and LLM programs are based on scores obtained in the national level Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). NLSIU has reserved 25% of seats for students belonging to Karnataka State in each program. NLSIU Bangalore Cutoff is the minimum mark required for admission to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM courses. The university accepts merit in CLAT UG for admission to BA LLB (Hons). NLSIU Bangalore Scholarships

NLSIU Bangalore offers various scholarships for students based on their merit in academics to encourage them to pursue higher education. Students with family income less than INR 8 LPA are eligible for the financial aid offered at the university. NLSIU offers various financial aid such as University Aid, External Aid and Third-Party Aid. Students can also avail of various scholarships provided by the central government, state government and private scholarships such as the Aditya Birla Scholarship and ICCR Scholarships. NLSIU Bangalore Facilities

NLSIU is spread across 23 acres of green land. The university has a top-notch infrastructure that offers facilities such as an academic block, smart classrooms, student hostels, faculty quarters, a state-of-the-art library, canteens, a health centre, gym facilities, and discussion rooms among other spaces for academic and community-based activities. The campus also has a Creche to facilitate kids of students and staff.

  • Library: The library is a 3 storied building with a vast collection of more than 50,000 books and 20,000 journals on several topics.
  • Smart Classrooms: The classrooms are equipped with projectors, retractable screens, LED lights, power supply at student desks and Wi-Fi enabled.
  • Hostel: The institute also arranges for a hostel facility so that students residing in far cities and states may also come here to study and live in the same place. The university has a total of 4 boys’ and 6 girls’ hostels.
  • Canteens: The institute has canteens that serve delicious and healthy beverages and snacks.
  • Moot Court: As it is a law school, the college also has a moot court where students can grow and develop their skills as lawyer.
